Halifax Planetarium

planetariumThe Halifax Planetarium has a long and interesting history

It is owned by the NS Museum of Natural History, who take reservations from teachers for grade 6 school groups.

At present the Museum is closed for repairs. Thus, until further notice, grade 6 teachers, as well as those of other grades, should contact us directly.

The planetarium is housed at the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science in the Sir James Dunn Building at Dalhousie University.

2009—The International Year of Astronomy—saw a major revitalization of shows at the Halifax Planetarium.  Thanks to many dedicated individuals, from many different groups, we now have a series of public shows.  These shows have been running at capacity, in some cases with a second show being added to accomodate the demand.

At this stage, a regular schedule has yet to be established, but we are currently running about every two weeks on Thursday evenings. Public shows will be posted as events on the home page of Astronomy Nova Scotia (this site) as they are announced.

Please note that shows are most suitable for ages 8 and up.

Are your children under 8 years old? Please ask the Discovery Centre about their new Digitarium!
